Mijas is a large municipality of Malaga, with the famous towns of Torremolinos, Benalmadena & Fuengirola on the coastal side, however, the pueblo (village) of Mijas is much higher in the hills.  There are also many golf courses and urbanizations in the area of Mijas with many foreigners choosing it as a second holiday home.

Coastal areas of Mijas remain more popular with foreigners. Its notable how many people refer to areas like Mijas or Estepona as Marbella, however Marbella is a totally different and separate Municipality.
